An opportune time to wish everyone who pops in here on a regular basis, either to look or comment, the compliments of the season.

Many thanks to those who add missing information or correct errors, your contributions are very much appreciated.

At this time of the year, I make sure everything is backed up (I do back up regularly anyway) and clear some of the crud out of the computer and just remind everyone else to make sure your files are backed up on a separate device. We aren't away for Christmas so I may continue posting now and again and at this stage, I haven't even decided what events to go to in NZ in 2019.

I do miss the annual January HD Festivals of old and doubt that I'll make Taupo, but some day, I do intend to do another South Island event, having called briefly at Teretonga some years ago - and got soaked!

ERC, and best wishes to you and yours, have just PM'd Ken H and John Mck as I could be a " maybe " for Taupo.. and " Caffeine and Classics for the end of January seem like a starter for me - Will take the almost 30 year old MX5 [ 1991 model ] - well they made the first NA series in 1989 so should qualify - just borrow a Rego sticker of an older car ??.

R5B - Remus, one of the most successful and most raced cars of all time, with the Grist Alfa alongside.

As we all know, many of the historic cars racing today seem to be so much quicker than they used to be, so 'Remus' is no longer the front runner it once was, but amazing to see these 1930's cars being driven so well and sounding glorious.

Had they been electric powered, along with all the others on show or racing at Goodwood, does anyone sincerely believe the meeting would be a virtual spectator sell out?




A bit of a surprise to see a front engined car beat the rear engined cars, but a great ding dong battle between these two.

Out of interest, who is entered in the #1 Ferrari in this post?

Ferrari driver is the owner, Tony Best. I'm getting near to the bottom of the Goodwood pile now... Just thirty to go.

The sister Jag to CUT7 also showing signs of a minor altercation. Is this the result of sharing with pro drivers I wonder or was it the owner who dinged it? As it happens, the same co-driver in both cars.

As you may have noticed, one of the major joys of Goodwood - certainly for me, is the total absence of wire netting catch fences. Yes, they have had accidents, but I'll do a catchfence-less track any day of the week. Every Goodwood photograph was taken from areas accessed by the general public. No tabard or privileges here and the maximum lens used was 300mm. Most statics were taken with a pocket Canon.

Some of the inner paddock shots wouldn't have been possible without the assistance of HRC's Tim Hill. Thanks Tim. Deeply indebted to you.

Often times its the co-driver (pro driver) who creates the damage, but on this occasion I think it was the owner. He hit the rear of the slow-starting Ferrari 250GTO in front of him off the line. The Ferrari was out almost on the sport.

I haven't quite finished with Goodwood 2018, but this first post is from the 'reserves pile' and has a query.

Now this one pic has had me baffled for ages and I have spent hours trying to pin down the date. This is where young Terry S has absolutely no idea as to what goes into some of these posts. According to the pic, this is carrying car number 14, but having tracked all Whenuapai programmes in my possession, there is no Datsun Z carrying #14.

I'm, now pretty sure it is 1987, but the race programme has car #14 down as Grant Bowring in a Buckler DD2. The only thing I can think of is that it maybe car 54.
