This event is just around the corner. Looks like its going to be a good one, although any Goodwood event that doesn't have a pre-65 Touring Trophy for GT cars, in my opinion, feels a little light.
Regardless, definitely going to be good. Is anyone going?

Not doing the Members meeting (not a GRRC member anyway) but all go for the Revival 2018.
Hopefully the racing will be as good as it has been the last couple of years, the SF Edge Trophy race should be a highlight again!
The Bolster will be the highlight in my opinion!

Note the amount of wasted time... Very frustrating when you are hanging about at a distant point on the circuit, just waiting, waiting, waiting.
A agree re the long down times between races. This is something I really noticed when I first went to a UK historic racing event in the early 1990s. It was the Silverstone Classic. The time between races was LONG! And really nothing happened between the races. It was just dead time. I find it strange given that most events in that part of the world only allow one race per class. There must be a better way to do it that offers more track time for racers and more for the spectators to watch. I guess its just the way its always been done.
Sadly Steve, it is the way it has always been done. My one and only trip to the Monaco Historic GP will probably be my last too, for exactly the same reason.
At least with Goodwood, there's plenty off track to look at, but not so with Monaco, where you needed a pass to get into the pits and very officious ticket checkers who limited you to the one stand that lined up with your ticket - even though all other stands were usually less than 10% full.
Maybe it is time for European drivers to stand up and be counted - or do a few Kiwi events... They certainly pay a massive amount to enter, so skipping a season over there and doing one in NZ instead would probably be financially beneficial.

If you want to go to a well run historic meet I highly recommend coming over to Sonoma at the end of May.
Great racing with the 1966- 1972 Trans Am cars being the featured class.
The races are exciting and can be watched from any grandstand and even from your parked vehicle at all the same cost which is about
$ 40.00 per day. It is very uncrowded and everyone including the drivers are easy to approach and talk with. (like at Taupo.)
Plus the events are well scheduled with very little delay unless something unexpected takes place.

Yes this weekend has been pretty miserable weatherwise in the UK. LOTS of snow. I was at another motorsport meeting at Curborough yesterday. Most of my pics have snow floating about.
Great F5000 coverage on right now.
NZ and the O'Donnell family etc. and Begg 018 getting a excellent coverage despite the snow and ice and salt !
What is the pile of rubbish in the background ?

Apart from a few seconds last night, I didn't watch, but no doubt there will be links to the various races later. From the short time I watched, once again, far too much focus on just a couple of cars, which isn't so important when really, the range of cars is what makes it so interesting.
Although supposedly sold out, not many spectators on the far side of the circuit. Maybe no hot food and coffee stalls out that side?
I agree Ray, too much focus on the leading cars, and not enough on the many cars of interest which are often further down the field. For example, in the Gurney Cup for pre-1966 sports cars, there was a car a little further down the grid called a Marina Rolls-Royce. Its not a car I'd heard of before, but because it wasn't up front, there were very few details. But thats pretty normal when there is any sort of tv coverage.
For me, a bigger issue are the long delays between races which we spoke of earlier. This years event made for a very slippery track surface because it was so cold, and cars were falling off the track more regularly than normal, which meant several races had safety car interventions. As a result, the races were often cut short, which then would lead to another long delay before the next race.

Thanks for those links Milan. I'm almost of the opinion that the grids for the members meeting are possibly better than the Revival.
Here you are Steve. 1963 Marina Rolls Royce. Unfortunately, as I wasn't there for either practice or the race 2009 (one of the other problems is the schedule - the cars that practice last on the Friday night, are also the last to race on the Sunday night, which is terrible scheduling, especially as the same groups are so affected every year), so no action pics. First is 2004 at the Festival of Speed and the second is at the Revival 2009.
This year, I have decided that even if I have to have a nana nap during the day, then join the long queue to escape, I'm determined to see the cars I usually miss.
