    Steve,
It certainly is a beautiful restoration and it looks a lot better now than in 1989 !

Looks more like a Maserati 250 F and with the steel wheels it probably has disc brakes.
They were raced in Formula One from 1954 to 1960.
Stirling Moss said they were the best front engine race car he ever drove.
He won the 1956 NZGP here at Ardmore driving one.
Does anyone know the history of this gem ?

Ken, I seem to recall that Chris Amon drove the blue 250F at the Ardmore reunion & I'm pretty sure that it belongs to the Southward Museum

It's also the car Chris drove when he started out - BRM wheels and Girling disc brakes? Raced by B Bira and Ron Flockhart in 1954 - was crashed, then apparently was rebuilt by The Owen Organisation/BRM (hence the wheels and brakes) Won the 1955 NZGP driven by Bira then sold to and raced by Bruce Halford. Bought by Ross Jensen in 1958 who sold it to Gavin Quirk. Raced by Len Gilbert, then Chris.......I think.

The BRG Maserati, well according to a note on TRS was rebuilt by Owen Organisation / BRM with disc brakes [ Ken H ] and Dunlop centrelock wheels.
    some note from SPman

Ross, hope you don't mind the 1959 results, not sure about the date on the B @ W pic, doesn't look like 1959, helmets and a single seater towards the back with a wing !!

and had the photo of the Maserati and it is wet, I do not remember the rain that day, all my pictures are of a sunny day.

From memory, the winged car was a Lotus 69.

That will be 1989! The Shell stickers give it away.

The entry list in Post #42 shows Ray Wilkinson in a Lotus 69. There's also a good photo of the car in Post #13.

I'm pretty sure the Lotus 69 Formula Ford that Martin Lucas now races came from Ray.

I've some photos from 1999 of Martin's car with wings (I think Ray owned it at the time), but the rear wing is a lot lower and the roll hoop is a lighter colour. Did Ray have more than one Lotus 69?

Bry3500 - Thanks for that, saw it today from an Austin Healey guy I know - he is in it, and shared the link
    Must have a good look

Another new Youtube clip is one on the 1993 Telecom Classic at Hamilton [ Frankton ] - which is the TVNZ footage - It is unedited. The work to produce was done for Laurie Brenssell - who was the main Organiser of the Events in 1993 and 1994 - The 1994 event film / video is in the pipeline.

    Cheers
    Roger

    " here's a shot of Chris Amon driving the blue 250F ".

As mentioned a Maserati 250F - which ran " Dunlop " Centrelock Wheels and Disc Brakes - as fitted by The Owen organisation - I incorrectly called it a BRM a few years ago - even on my own photos - until corrected.

    Great shot Nigel

Note the 1959 grid shot, just how many of those cars we still see.

I don't recall that car ever being blue. A very dark green is how I remember it.
