Great work John and will be a fantastic addition to HMC when finished!! with all the cars get built and coming too HMC it will be a fantastic looking field with the Monaro rite up there in providence as thats what we're all about!!

John, when Ian used to help Goody he and his wife bought the Jacaranda Motel in Epsom, then like any Ford engine, that all blew up and Ian moved to Aussie. In the early to mid `80s he ran the Spears workshop in East Tamaki, and also helped Bill Adams from Aimco Aerials with his dirt track mini which Ian built a real serious engine with fuel injection on an Ardun head. I often wonder where that motor ended up. Ian was a real nice guy who could get any engine happening.......

Just talked to Randal Edgel- he said he was just starting at Spears then, remembers vaguely the car but absolutely Ian Burton-I.B.- doing the 350 for Jim Carlyle. Anyone know where Ian Burton is these days-he also used to help Noel Goodwin on the Sprint Car.

How is Randall these days? Haven't seen him since he assembled a Fiat 500 engine for me when he was still an apprentice........

Shano- the body is always the biggie.
Engine just about finished.
Webers being checked now.
Engine goes to Marsh in September for run in and dyno.
Gearbox, diff, brakes,interior , front and rear suspension all ready to go.
Just need to confirm the height when all weight is in.
Another biggie will be the weatherstrip kit- $2k and cage about the same.
It will always be the body and the paint that determine how quickly I can afford to finish this car, but at least now, looking at it,-its not the end of the beginning: its the beginning of the end.

Are they making weatherstrip kits for these Monaros now John? Do you know who makes them?

If you can get this Monaro restored back to its former Team Cambridge condition, that will be a wonderful achievement and I hope all TRS readers can go back through their old photos, magazines and programmes etc.and supply you with any information they can.

Thank you John for up date and well done so far............. was looking at [although Paul being shorter] Paul & Croz in escorts you can see how Paul [ex uk race car] sits way lower getting centre of gravity...low ...... huge advantage every corner .....still see this today in club level I guess people ok with the way things are ...I remember
the first pre 65 Anglia I raced it seemed common sence to sit on the floor taking a lot off the bottom off the seat ....seemed to work ok lol ........

Time for an update on a cold wet day-
Said earlier that motor was almost ready and carbs being checked by Rob Brown
Now engine is complete and goes to Marsh next week for starting, running in and dynoing.
Many thanks to Mark Wade for this, started with a bare block, and new crank
You will seen him recently on the Win a Monaro video and is a total Chev man- runs a small block sprint car
When I get the motor back, bell housing, clutch all get mated and fit to front cross member. Body then lowered down to get correct fit then measured for tuned headers.
Diff housing also goes to Dennis Running for assembly- all new insides.
