between Rod Coppins, Gisborne, in his Chevrolet Camaro 5500cc (141) sponsored by ‘Cambridge' cigarettes
and Paul Fahey, Manurewa, in his ‘John W Andrews & Sons Ltd' Ford Escort Mk1 Twin Cam 1595cc (104).

Wow in post #39 there is a Mercury Cyclone does anyone know who was driving it and what engine combo it was running? I have a Cale Yarborough Cyclone spoiler II long nose that I am building up as a rep of his race car, complete with Boss 429. Choice pics bry3500

In amongst the earthquakes in Blenheim over the weekend,John Penny amended the captions on the April thread.
"Peter Knight (Christchurch) brings the Mercury Cyclone V8 around the sweeper during the main race.
He later retired when he lost his brakes"

Nelson driver Les Fahey, Ford 10 Special 1172 cc at the Redwood Pass Gravel Hillclimb – early 1962.
His time of 1 minute 9 seconds was the same as Marlborough Car Club member Maurice (Sam) Mills,
Singer Gazelle 1494 cc and they were first equal.
Les Fahey had a fright when his throttle jammed open near the top of the hill and evasive action
into the bank resulted in a broken radius arm.
NOTE:- Registration plates, and Nelson Car Club decal on the window, and the Jaguar Mk7 tow car.
