    Photo is from 1970 Pukekohe. See car again in Post #68 and Post #62 on this thread.

    Levin was the week before Pukekohe that season and Simpson wasn't entered at Baypark the week before that - not a Tasman Champ Race. No time for properly painted numbers? or just a practice shot maybe?

    Swede, Ulf Norinders Lola, who by all accounts was a true character, he had to retire half way through race with 'heat exhaustion' apparantley he enjoyed the Southland hospitality the night before so much that he puked in his helmet after 30 odd laps. Was this true? There must be many stories out there of this guy.

    maybe its a shame they did.. these spectators must have be truly thrilled watching these weapons that close to the action.

    Mike Campbell's mount was a (the?) Forsgrini

    The unsual nose on Grable's McLaren was possible because of the rear-mounted radiator

    That's GRABLE himself at the rear of the car, chatting with Feo Stanton in the orange jacket. The mechanic, Ken Holden, is the bloke who built the Spectre HR-1 that Grable drove to win NZ's first Fomula A/5000 race at Bay Park, December '68.

    He certainly was that. He propositioned by wife and promised her a really great time.

    I see this morning on the news that Lola Car has gone to the wall. A real pity as they produced some really great looking cars - I love the T70 series of cars.
