Tony Roberts at the time (he was driving it anyway) but I think someone mentioned the car in a recent thread. Maybe Duncan Fox contributed to that thread?

I suppose I should be posting pics from yesterday, but such a pile of scanned photographs that was backlogged that I need to get put away. Still 1998.

Still a few focus issues when these two were done, so I should go back and do them again. Andy Culpin's NZ built AFX, owned and driven by Frank Karl.

More from the Domain. With today's camera and auto focus plus other auto settings, you tend to forget that it isn't so long ago you had to set everything - including calculate the exposure according to the film you were using, and the aperture!

Three people who have had a considerable influence in NZ motorsport. The late Geoff Manning (L), ex F1 mechanic and FJ Volpini racer, who really discovered the Hampton Downs area as a potential location for a race track. Although the negotiations for the initial site, just up the road, backing on to the Meremere Dragway, fell through at the 11th hour, focus then shifted to the current site.
Chris Watson, original developer with Tony Roberts, of the HD complex, now head honcho of HRC Events.
Andy Culpin, scrutineer for many years and builder of the AFX F5000 car in post #1803. Restorer and developer of many other cars, including Chris Watson's McLaren Gardos.

Just about done a first cut of weeding out the dross from Saturday. Next job is weeding out the duplicates... I also need to send a swag of pics to Mike Feisst for the HMC/HSC Facebook page as Mike forgot an essential piece of equipment. His camera....
Paul Madeley's Porsche 944 Turbo made its track debut in Arrows practice, but a water pipe issue brought his day to a premature end.
This thread has had over 525,000 views! Its an awesome thread and truly enjoyable to follow. Thanks Ray for sharing all your amazing images with us.
Thanks Steve - for the opportunity to share the images. I get a great deal of pleasure from this website as do many others, and if my own modest contributions are enjoyed by one or two, it is all worthwhile.
Although the next batch should really be the Icebreaker, (I do like things in chronological order), a handful from Saturday's most enjoyable TACCOC meeting, just to whet the appetite.
I have sent a set of HMC/HSC pics to Mike so they may appear on the Facebook page before they, or similar ones, appear on here.

Still Saturday Icebreaker. Apart from maybe a Caffeine & Classics meet, nothing else on my calendar until December, so plenty of time to catch up but another few sessions of scanning probably need to be fitted in too. The thought of that isn't exactly exciting as it is so slow and labour intensive.

The Trofeo grid has expanded from just Alfa's to cover all Italian cars and this is a great move in my opinion. A textbook case of moving forwards rather than suffer shrinking grids. As with the ERC grids, there are critics of allowing in newer cars, but with ever increasing costs of putting on a race meeting, outlawing newer cars just to keep to some arbitrary age limit of say 1977, is no longer viable. Flicking through any of my photographs, even from the 1990's, makes and models seen regularly, are now mothballed, trailer queens or cherished, so we have to move forward.
