Wow, I love that Mustang. The changes you've made with the rear flares etc have already made a huge difference.

Looking good Richie!
Thanks Steve, lovin it !!
Not sure whether this connection has been put up before so HMC fans have a look at our Facebook page. We have posted quite a few photos, both period and current, of the muscle cars that we are trying to emulate with this class.

If you have any such photos would love to be able to post them on that page for all to enjoy.
Cheers Mike
David Woods 76 Dodge Aspen coming along nicely, be ready for next season!! we have an explosion in HMC cars coming at us next summer!!
Been awhile but another car in the build coming to HMC is Karl Sentch from Auckland in his Capri Perana replica currently under construction. It will feature a 302 Windsor V8, Toploader gearbox and 15X8 wheels. Don't us Kiwis just luv Capris :)
Wanganui's Ian Williamson has just recently purchased this 70 mustang open track car out of California, it needs some compliance sorted which Ian understands but otherwise another great looking HMC car coming, expect to see it at the MG Classic, Manfeild in November.
Ken Sturrock(Daves brother) has also just recently purchased this beautiful 67 A-Sedan Camaro out of Oregon, USA. Some compliance is needed but not much, its turn key ready to race otherwise and features a 500HP 302 Chevy, Muncie trans, period 15inch wheels, etc another great addition to HMC.
The new owner wishes to remain anonymous until he gets his baby but this beautiful 69 Mustang was recently purchased out of Brisbane, Australia minus engine and will join the HMC grid next season, it will live in the lower north Island, once again minor compliance issues and a new HMC spec engine will see it line up on the grid.
Although already racing a 70 Capri Perana with HMC, Auckland local Mitch Mexted is hard into his build of his HMC spec 67 XR Falcon sedan, it will feature a 351 iron Cleveland, Toploader trans, 9inch diff, 15X8 wheels and will be done as a Geohegan look alike replica, how cool will that be!! he plans to be ready and racing at HMC first TACCOC meeting October 8th at Hampton.
So there you have, just a couple of new HMC cars coming to Historic big banger Saloon car racing here in good ol NZ, its not all that bad out there I guess. There are others coming but some have been stagnant for a while so once they get moving again I will put them up on here!!
Next season calendar as below:
1. 8th October 2016, TACCOC Classic one day Saturday - Hampton Downs(Bathurst the next day)
2. 11/13th Nov 2016, Wellington MG Car Club Classic – Manfeild(important to support this meeting)
3. 27th Nov 2016, TACCOC Classic one day Sunday – Pukekohe
4. 4. 13/15 January 2017, NZFMR Festival Ken Smith – Hampton Downs(possible Australian Trans Am over)
5. 20/22 January 2017, NZFMR Festival Ken Smith – Hampton Downs(possible Australian Trans Am over)
6. 10/12th February 2017, Timaru Classic – Levels Timaru
7. 17/19st February 2017, Teretonga Classic – Teretonga Invercargill
8. 1/2nd April 2017, Legends of Speed – Hampton Downs – HRC(Weekend after Beach Hop, Daylight saving ends, 2 weeks before Easter)
Remember, "The Cars are the Stars" and "Four Gears and Grey Hairs" but best of all "No Angry People"
Enjoy

Great article on the real deals here - http://www.streetlegaltv.com/event-c...rans-am-series
Good to see more cars Dale. Keep at it! Also good to cars that can run in more than one class.
As the Team Cambridge Monaro is getting close to finishing, my XA Coupe-083 -is surplus to requirements.
No point in it sitting collecting dust in my garage, when some keen racer have have fun with it.
It is available to some one who want a serious HMC 633 h.p. race car with COD, and appreciates the cost involved in building one to the rules.
Please PM me if interested,
For all those who love Historic Muscle Cars- look at this XB Falcon Coupe at the 2016 Detroit Autorama.-

HMC even get a mention in todays herald

Motorsport: V8s the best motorsport category on the planet- Herald this morning.
Makes your day when you have a HMC V8 in the garage and you see a headline like this.
The sheer number of cars and drivers entering this class is amazing and the variety is great. Much better than in period.
Roll on Manfield and then the South Island tour.
I can see that causing a few headaches.
Has anyone thought of the transporter thing to the SI we did that a few yrs ago works well if you can have some one to organise , just an idea , frees up some that wants or needs to get back up NI during that week , I feel the whole thing is just fantastic .....love being apart of HMC .
Grant, transporter idea sounds great but this we leave up to each individual or unless someone can organise this as a group themselves, i hope you plan to be apart of the SI tour as theres lots of interest. Please remember that our Roaring Season founder Steve Holmes along with HSC Director Bruce Dyer are the ONLY go to guys for questions and answers for organising this actual event at both tracks, myself and Tony Roberts are back ups. It is up to each individual to organise there own transport and accomodation(but we certainly don't mind advising, Steve will inform via SI tour newsletters), we as the HMC/HSC directors are the only ones that control the class and event at meetings and work with the event organisers, its easiest for everyone this way, all you have to do is turn up in a legal car! and so as you are originally from Timaru please feel free to help anyone that requires it Grant, it'll be great fun.
Thank you Dale , yes all under control, Kev informed today me my head has been finished looks very shiny bling bling , & flows as it should ....you might want to check it out at Manfeild , nothing has changed for the last 15 years except cyl head , as for Timaru there are plenty of hotels there all well priced , & as for Chch the Yaldhurst hotel 5 mins from the track is a winner , [people can google hotel etc for costings] I be there ............;)
Grant I gather you are going down a week earlier and doing the Ruapuna Festival of Speed too. I am considering doing that too and taking in the third meeting as well to see what is racing in the South Island.
This project Torana GTR coming to HMC in the future, belongs to Richard Ryan out of Auckland, he said its been in the family along time and he's raced it in several Targa's and now wants to do historic racing. Although very project looking he said all the engine and other parts are built, new rollcage and paint job and together it goes, said he'll be with us next season!! watch this space I guess.
Great photo here I stumbled upon going through some of my old folders. This one was by Brett Young, taken at Manfeild in 1975. Its a production car race, Castrol GTX. Interesting how, 40 years later, this has a very similar look about it to Historic Muscle Cars.

Great grid, hard case when Rod Millen from 3rd row lead them out of 1st corner in Mazda RX3 Rally car straight back from Southern Cross in Aussie as was Rod Coppins L34 from Bathurst (same trip and transport)
did not stay there for long but hard case.
Not NZ but may well appeal to enthusiasts

Thanks Rhys, what a beautiful noise!
I stumbled upon this photo on Facebook today. Sadly, it doesn't look like this anymore, this was taken way back in 1992. But what a cool car this was. Wayne Andersons mega big block '68 Camaro in its original guise.

The 'Smokey Yunick' black and gold was one of the smartest colour schemes back then, and he was fairly smart also in Trans Ams
Isn't it amazing Rod, Americans take and old worn out piece of shit historic race car like the Yunick Camaro and beautifully restore it back to its original glory and Kiwis take neat old known classic race car like the Anderson Camaro and turn around and Hotrod the shit out of it hence ruining it forever? go figure!!
PS: Except for John McKechnie, he's a legend :)

Dale...are you saying that the normal rear wheel arches on ,,,for example some well known NZ race Mustangs the same shape as yours...looked much better with their original ones rather than the boxed type fitted later.
I personally do.
Yes I do John but remember that era after 1975/6 was known as Schedule E under MSNZ were the cars become effectively Sports Sedans, the Nazer Victor, the PDL and Sidchrome Mustangs with there boxed fenders, ugly but effective but still an era that needs to be preserved.

Yeah I agree Dale, it is a shame. That car had real presence, there was always a crowd around it, and I remember when it ran the Wellington Street Race in one of the support classes, even the commentators were in awe. As pictured above, it had 15" Corvette wheels, Muncie gearbox etc. Just a cool old, simple muscle car with a great big motor.
