It went from Wanganui to the Wairarapa, where it was - inevitably? - called an Elva-Ford. I never saw it after 1962
If Beowulf sees this, he might know more. Owner's name then was Hans Andresen
Very cool David, thanks again.
Wanganui is my home town, I was 7 years old back in 62 and that seeing that photo strikes a chord. I wonder if I may have seen it at Ohakea or perhaps at Noel Thompsons place across the road from my house. I remember the JBS 500 and a couple of other racing cars leaving in convoy to go to Ohakea back then ..mmm

Hans Andreson's family owned the Taueru pub, about 10 miles from Masterton. We had a few clubnights there. Drink and drive was fine then. It was a pretty little car with an Inlet overhead valve conversion. Hans ran it at a few hillclimbs and then sold it. I don't know where it went. Someone said something about the world used to be in black and white, these photos are doing a great job in convincing the grandchildren that it was. Things were a lot simpler then. How long would that stand made from a couple of ladders and a plank or two last now?
Great photos, and David your memory, research is bloody fantastic. Thank you.

Yes thats me too sitting next to my best cobber. He is also standing next to that porcshe which was driven by a Wellington Doctor i think. But I could hardly believe it when I saw myself next to that #58 sports car. I was sure when i recognised the jumper. My Rongatai College one. It is the only Jjumper I had!!! I have still got all my hair but alas the tinnies over the years have done for my weight!! My mate was also thrilled to see these unearthed.does anyone know what/who that #58 car is i am next to on page 2 of this thread.
This Fairlane or Customline? is Houghton Bay and I have taken quite a few photos at that corner. some of which are on one of my collections on this site.
Y'all have great recall, the only thing I can remember about Wellington in the 60s is the Purple Onion.
I would be careful admitting to knowing the Purple Onion. Jamie used to hang out there..............so to speak
So did I ! It must have been the great coffee and the toasted sarnies!!
Yes I think there was some sort of attraction there for more than a few of us
