I'm slowly gathering interesting old period photos for both books. Here is a neat one Alan Boyle gave me for the Holden book which he took at Kaikoura during one of his South Island visits while racing the Cke Viva.

Ken- round indicators under the bumper show it is an HD,
Just had a HR in my shop, had indicators in the grille.
HD, HR ute both had HD taillamps.
Maybe the chics thought the car was a magnet, but the bare feet and flares combination maybe not so hot..........
The advertisement, however, is for an HR...
145hp was a 186S if I recall correctly. HDs were 149 and 179.
The HR 225 that I had in was a factory 186S with 4 speed, bench seat,only 2 came to NZ.
How many utes would have been made as 186S 4 speed ?

Yes, the X2 in the HR did, but the X2 in the 179-engined HD didn't... only a very small number of 186 X2s were built before they were replaced by the 186S with a 2-barrel carby.Quote:

I was involved in on attempt to persuade GM-H to supply a 4-speed in an HR panel van. We pleaded steep driveways and things like that, they supplied the van but it was not a regular option.
Either one Ken. I'm looking for any of the above list to do a few features on in the book. These would be cars that people currently own, that I can go and photograph, and do a small write-up on.
But I'm also looking for old photos of any of the cars listed above, as the book will feature a mix of period photos and current photos.
Steve there was a story I heard many years ago of a mid 1930s sedan that was built in Lower Hutt (maybe Seaview) that had two doors on one side and only one on the other because the teams doing the welding didn't notice what the team on the other side was doing. I have heard this story from a number of sources but cannot confirm it's validity. I worked at the Seaview plant for a short time in 1964 when face lift Mk1 Cortinas, Anglias, Mk3 Zephers and Zodiacs and Fairlanes were being assembled.
