Dad was asked to come over to the SI for this event. One of his old XU1's is going to be there. So we have booked the tickets and we are both going over from Brisbane.

Should be great to see the cars and some old faces again. who is going?

Regards, Steve (And Ralph Emson)

I shall be there, but you will not know me. Clerk of Course for the Standing Sprint Drag races up the closed off main street of Waimate town centre......Wonderful. Also as timing crew for the Rally Sprint.
If you not been before expect a warm welcome from the whole town. It is a great weekend of motorsport at grass roots level designed for all comers to have a go. There are always VIP(People) from yesteryear, VIV(Vehicles) from yesteryear, a good running commentary, and the whole town embraces the event. The Mayor turns out, there are car club displays, garden fete type attractions. stalls, bars, food etc etc
Prepare to enjoy and Phil Dark the commentator would love to meet with your Dad and yourself and broadcast your affi

Hi again, Tuesday after the Waimate 50 GT Series weekend and I trust it lived up to expectation. I have your results in front of me taken from the Chrissport web page and I see you were sort of mid field in the 3 'official" events. My wife & I were the the stop control caravan (hand built 1961 by one Pastor Olds and donated to me as a mobile motorsport office by his son Jon who is famous in yauchting circle) at the end of the Rallysprint. A growing contingent of Aussie competitors is noted. Also one event that is oversubscribed in all fields. Many other events, especially club level at racetracks really struggling for entries and possibly a compounding effect is the lack of especially younger folk willing to be volunteers to man the events. Would be interested to hear your impressions. I'm now looking forward to time keeping duties on the forthcoming Silver Fern.

Really good post Roger. I'd love to see a photo of that caravan!

This looks like a great event, seriously thinking about entering next year - bit of a treak from Auckland though.

Just have to decide if it is Citroen BX16v or E Type Roadster - Citroen much quicker but not quite as classy.

Stewart.
No decision. E-Type. 2 parts of the weekend designed for this car, the 1/4 mile drags down the main street on Saturday night before a street party, and then the Street Sprints on Sunday. Really not Citroen climate this far south. Phone Beacham and get yourself some sponsorship. We had entrants from Mount Maunganui this year but no Jaffas as far as aware. Keep in touch, I am sure a lot of folk would love to see an E-Type in angry mode. Roger 0274906806. Or catch me or Carlo and many others during the Silver Fern. If we can come to you, you can come to us!

I think your probably right Roger - the E has toured the south three times now so knows the way including Dunedin Street race and Coronet Peak hill climb.
