He was having a whale of a time that driver, and thoroughly entertaining it was, in an unlikely sort of car. Such ungainly looking things (but actually pretty capable, mechanically.)

He was certainly a showman and entertained the crowd even on the slow down lap. Talking to him later he said that he mightn't be able to race up front but he could put on a show and that he did over both weekends.

Small world isn't it Nigel. No, I wasn't the Irish bloke - he (Liam) was the son of an old school friend of mine. My mate has just returned to live in NZ after living in Ireland for 25 years (hence his son's Dublin accent), and they were both staying with us at the track. Liam just seemed to be in the right place at the right time to capture a few 'incidents' on camera, and was proud of his efforts, so came running back to the apartment to show everyone. I downloaded them onto my laptop so I could upload them to the Forum.

As an aside, my mate hadn't been to a race meeting in NZ for over 25 years, and was extremely impressed with HD and the racing in general. Nice to know, as this guy has attended racing meeting all around Europe and the UK.

Ha ha! Yes, the gentleman in question has a great sense of humour, and Im fortunate enough to be a friend of his. He has a penchant for things different, and this is one of a number of P76's that he owns, in addition to a modest collection of other vehicles that he and his wife enjoy :)

It is the ex-Dauntsey Teagle car I believe. At HD, the driver was also very entertaining coming over the hill at turn 2/3. Makes for good photographs when you see cars with attitude!

He was absolutely more entertaining than 95% of the drivers.I made a point of watching him each time he went passed, irrespective of if he was passed by faster cars. The people around me on that corner were cheering him on.No other car was on the track apparently.

Hi Habu, A good friend of mine said that modest is a very modest word for his collection.This is a very under rated car as I know Dauntsey did not restrain himself on this project.

Although I have a deep respect for purity and classic single seater race cars, and saloon cars, I think that there is nothing better than the days when cars were drifted through corners rather than cornering as if on rails. They may not have been particularly fast but given a choice between a dream drive in a 2012 F1 Ferrari and a 250F Maserati or even an F2 Cooper-Bristol, no contest.

Nowadays, we have Skidmark Parsons and Mal Clark's Rover, using up their old rally tyres on the race track to entertain us.
