I first knew Allan and Colleen in the late 1950's in New Lynn, they lived a few doors up the road, when Allan had his Ford 8 Saloon.
Was also a customer of the Bank where I worked in the 1960's/70's and used to go to Woolf Mufflers and Woolf Car Wreckers for many years.

Last time I saw the Woolf's Allan and Colleen was at the NSCC reunion in August 2022.

A Tribute from Nigel Hunter Russell a fellow Formula Junior Racer on behalf of the
" Historic Racing and Sports Car Club "...

" Allan, a motorsport competitor for over 65 years first competed in the Auckland Car Club hillclimb series at Muriwai driving a 1933 Ford Y, 8 hp. Allan also ran this car in the Indianapolis and Hepolite car trials. This little rocket had ran in the Ardmore Grand Prix meeting in 1956 and also at the Ohakea airfield race. Many saloon car races followed eg. the GTX series driving a Holden GTR. In 1972 daughter Sue (later married to Paul Adams) was Allan’s co-driver in the Heatway Rally. A Triumph Vitesse was built up and Allan and this successful car travelled the length of New Zealand competing. Allan drove in many long distance races including the Benson & Hedges series with co-drivers Joe Hayes, Bill Beasley, Robbie Booth, Garry Pedersen. He also competed in a Toyota Sprinter in the Wellington Street series, Manfeild, and Pukekohe. Allan also raced the Production class in a Fiat 124 at Baypark and Manfeild and Pukekohe. The successful car of the Halliday Bros a Ford Escort was bought by Allan and with this vehicle he won the NZ Saloon Car Championship in 1975. In 1983, Rod Millen kindly made available an RX7 Mazda for Allan to drive at the Pikes Peak hillclimb event with Allan winning the Rooky of the Year in the rally car class. Allan returned to the event in 1984 and 1986 driving Rod’s 4wd In 1989 Allan purchased the Brabham BT9 F3/FJ from the Simpkin Bros in Sydney and so started another era. Allan ran the Brabham at the pointy end of the Historic and Formula Junior grids, up and down the length of New Zealand, for many years. The purchase of a Volpini FJ in 2005 was added to the collection.
Allan will be sadly missed by all in the club and all those who knew him. "

So sorry to hear this. Met him many times and even at the ECB RSA (when it was active). A lovely man. Sadly, as we are in the UK, unable to attend.

Many photographs of him in action but obviously not with me.

RiP indeed.

The Coffee table was well known in Motor Sport circles and the motor trade.

An article by Paul Adams..
Remember seeing the coffee table, I thought at Woolf Car Wreckers / Mufflers premises at one time, back then - 1970's.

I can vividly recall an occasion, don’t exactly remember where. Don’t remember when, however it was a long time ago.

The NSSC committee members brought some American sailors from a visiting warship to a hillclimb as a goodwill venture. I was standing next to one at the start line. A Ford model “Y” took off leaving a cloud of loose metal behind. “God-damn! he shouted, snatching off his pork-pie hat, throwing it on the ground and jumping on it !

Earlier these guys had shown special interest in what they thought was a miniature very early Ford V8. While examining its mechanics and four cylinder power plant, “What the hell,” was the comment.

I am writing a feature on Allan for NZ Classic Driver magazine. I am looking for a source for B&H results from the seventies. Any help will be appreciated.

This is a list of the cars Allan drove in the Wills and B&H races and his co-drivers.

I'll add the results shortly.

The races were Wills in the 1960's - 1963 to 1967 at least and then B and H ..in the 1970's on..

The " Confirmed Results " from the Wills Six Hour Saloon Car Race.

Both pages - Allan features on page two.
