What did you think?

Yep I went and thought it was pretty good. I'd spent my next Saturday night lotto winnings even before I was out of the first pavilion. Got a few good ideas but mostly just caught up with people I hadn't seen for a while. Hard to move 2 metres without stopping to talk! I thought there were many more people there this year than last but that might have been to do with the time of day I went this year. Got there Sunday about 11.00 and it was pretty busy whereas last year about 3.00 on the Saturday.

It never ceases to amaze me, the lengths to which some people will go in order to propel their fragile meatsacks through the air at the greatest velocity possible. Some bad craziness in some of them vehicles.

Plenty of fantastic machinery out there of all sorts and I found the people on the stands friendly and obliging. Had a good chat with Andy Booth about the new Super tourer V8s. Drooled over classic motorcycles, outrageous offroaders and the American iron on the Meguiars stand. The quality of workmanship on those was almost beyond belief.

There was some pretty fine looking bodywork on display that I wouldn't have minded giving a polish, just quietly....

Well worth twenty bucks and a few hours on a Sat morning.

Here are a few of my pics - sorry mainly just hot rod ones but in saying that there werent a great deal of historic race cars this year. I went in the 32 on the Meguiars Charity Run on the Saturday morning into the Speedshow. Got to the show at 11 and left at 4.
Coverage will be in the September NZ Hot Rod Magazine.

I did particularly like the Factory 5 33 Roadster. I've read about it before in the Goodguys Magazine and it looks like it's well engineered. That particular one looks like it will be a bit of a weapon!
