These pics were posted on facebook by Henshaw Motor Racing Ltd. Looks like PDL II has had another make-over. Looks amazing! Though in my opinion if it has the deep front splitter it should also have the big rear wing.

Sure is nice to see all the correct signage back on again after all these years.

Yes, definitely looks nice without the rear wing. The car only raced for two seasons; 1977 and 1979. In 1977 it didn't have the wing, and didn't have that deep front splitter. The team only added those for the 1979 Open Saloon series in the North Island. It was the cars designer/builder Rick Deihl who pointed this out to me and said if it retains the splitter it should also have the wing.

Raced at Baskerville in 1977 without any rear wing just a spolier as part of the bodywork like above.. Leo Leonard driving, A Photo appears in a calender, for February and January has the Sidchrome Mustang and the Edmonson Charger on the grid

Yes thats correct Roger, Baskerville, Calder, and I think one other Aussie track. Actually, I think it only ran demonstration laps at Baskerville? Bob Stewart sent the car to Australia before the 1977 NZ championship had been completed. Part of the reason was to promote his new childrens construction block company Torro Toys.

Thanks Roger, those photos are cool! This is how the car looked in 1979 during the Open Saloon series. The team fitted a McLaren M10 F5000 rear wing mounted way up in the clean air, plus expended the front splitter. Note also how the Torro Toys signage is much more prominent.

The front splitter in post #1 is more squared off at corners and further extended than any of the other hysteric pics.

Here's a shot I took of Leo Leonard when he was having a great battle with Jim Richards in the Falcon - dated 26/11/78
I remember the Mustang was on the grass coming over Rothmans nearly every lap to keep ahead of JR.
This negative was quite badly crazed so I have had to do a fair bit of work on it, but worth the effort I think.

Another shot I managed to locate of Leo Leonard and Jack Nazer in the Victor having a good tussle through the chicane on the back straight of Pukekohe.
