View Full Version : E.R.A an introduction.
Have some cars and have owned several over the years ranging from a 1922 Ghost (7KG ) I bought in a pub in Dunedin to a Hudson speed six I purchased whilst been driven between Invercargill to Queenstown for an event that the car won then immediately afterwards was an exhibit in the foyer of the museum as I hadn't a garage and planned to send to the UK. Several years followed and the Ghost stayed in NZ as did the Hudson. Just love saving and restoring cars.
Like the unusual with history and enjoy my hobby even though now cannot drive anymore
Lately did a deal for the Brooke ERA and this is going to be fun. My grandson loves it also. :D
Have a look at my ERA facebook page , am having a webpage done at the moment.

Any photos - info on ERA's and Raymond Mays is very welcome and will link to whoever sends unless advised otherwise.

ERA contacted me earlier in the day having seen my earlier picture posts on Roaring Season. I have promised to assist as much as I can, but I'm sure some of you will have pics of Bill Morris, when he brought an ERA to NZ early 1984.
Sadly, I only managed a couple of static shots at the conclusion of the day at Whenuapai, as I was out with my then wife and son and missed the meeting. In retrospect, I should have gone to Whenuapai...
That car looks stunning!

Thank you Ray for this.
Do you remember the year , what the chassis number is or the drivers name as can do some research on this.
Would appreciate a larger photo to my email address and I will load onto the ERA page if you don't mind.
Met Bill with " Humphry " at Ollon Villars hill climb in 2003 and then at the 70th E.R.A anniversary race at Donington . He was a very nice chap.
Regards
Stewart
Raymond Mays! 1937 12th June at Donington. I'll send more stuff next week if I have time before we head overseas on the 20th and a list of ERA Donington Photographs.
Currently flat out with our ERC Series awards dinner...
Posted earlier on here, I think. (Running a mouse over any of my pics will show the date - so 1937 is 137_ June 12th is 0612 = 137_0612_nn)

Thanks for the information and photos above, will load them on the facebook page shortly.
Have registered E.R.A trademarks for most categories I wanted , one of them being toys and yesterday the prototype 3D drawing was done in plastic for approval - quite pleased with as it took a while. Its about 330 mm long.

That big ohv V8 Special intrigues me...
No doubt the brakes were converted to hydraulic, what car is it?

Gee Cee Ess - huge history with George Smith in NZ over many years.
In post#14 it is directly behind ERA - beside BCM which is beside Sam's replica Dino 246 from Australia.
Good that I could get a mention of ERA in there!

Ahh... the painted heads make it look like an ohv unit in the first pic...
Interesting that it's set up for a LHD steering connection. And the hydraulic dampers, in what era was it built?

Just for the record Romulus did not come to New Zealand with Bill Morris, it was Hanuman.
Here is a photo of Jim Clark with Remus and Hon. Patrick L.
A nice photo of Jmaes Clark and Patrick - Ludovic won the Roadmap trophy at Donington in the 70th anniversary race in 2004 driving Bira's R5B "Remus " to victory.
