This is a brilliant race, and hugely entertaining. These days, there are well over 1,000 registered Group N Historic Touring Cars in Australia spanning through to the end of 1972, but back in 1982, the category was just getting started. Back then, the cut-off date was 1965 (this is now called Group Nb), and the category was called Appendix J.
Denis O'Brien produces an epic display of driver skill in his 427ci 1964 Galaxie, and you can hear the crowd roar every time he drifts the big block monster. Amazing to think most of these cars weren't even twenty years old in 1982.
