I have been going through a pile of negatives taken at the Ardmore Reunion that I had never got round to processing before so thought people may be interested in having a look at some of them.

Great photos, cannot believe it was 1989.raced two cars that day ,a Lotus Elan Sprint in Gold Leaf colours and my little red and black Mini Cooper 998cc.As i remember it was very hot, looking at those photos did not realise at the time that their was such a large crowd.Previously i had found a second hand copy of Stirling Moss's book in the track of speed,it had a signature [and still has] from him on a piece of cigarette paper, evidently obtained when he raced at Ardmore originally, got him to sign the book again,so one before his Goodwood shunt and one after, they were both the same, even though he had suffered such bad injuries that aspect was not affected. Also still have unused a window sticker advertiseing the event. [sad]
Keep those photos coming Ross.

Yep chassis #, actually car had been re-chassied earlier after a major prang. I think that pic would be the guy ( name escapes me at mo ) who bought it off Phil Rudd ( Drummer AC/DC ) and carried on down thru NZ to compete in the SI classic meets before shipping the car back to his home base, I saw the car @ Dunedin Street race, should be some pics somewhere IIRC. Same car was featured in a NZ racing? magazine. Phil Rudd apparently took it to an earlier Ardmore or similar AK based classic meet as a spectator and overheard the guys on the gate say, oh just another bloody replica or words to that effect....if only they knew:)

Yes, Ted Rollason. After he bought the car from Rudd he brought it to a HRSCC meeting at Taupo and at the conclusion of the racing very generously gave everyone who wanted a ride a lap or two of the circuit.

A gentleman in Rotorua did work on Phil's car (GT40) amongst other toy's. Won't say more until clarify with him and he agrees.
This was a great meeting with amazing cars and motorsport people, a few of who have left for the big track in the sky.

Is there a site that allows you to monetise your shots? If there is and you have a decent shot of my Lotus, I'd be keen on ordering some prints.

Send me a PM with your email address Paul and I will have a look at what I took over that period, and send you what I can find. I tended to concentrate more on "classic" racing in the late 80's.

I do have an entry list that I could scan.

I was flagging for both days and sad to say, on a flag post that was on a straight and due to a different senior marshal, we were stuck on the one point all weekend, with no stand down time to wander. What should have been a photographic feast for me, was anything but, as we were too far from the track edge or a corner to get any decent pics. The one time in my life I actually regretted being a motorsport volunteer...

Our normal system was two flagging, one observing, two incident crew. If we had 7 or more, we took it in turns to stand down which at least gave us a bit of time to wander. These days, the poor marshals are out just about every weekend and they are often struggling to get two per post...

What happened to the Tuatara seen in post #13?

ERC, thanks, Appreciate your comments about being a Flaggie . aka - a Marshall, it should be so the guys that do the work which gets the drivers on and off the track, get some recognition.
I did a bit in the 60's - easier then, in some ways, but not so safe, stood in the huge concrete circle just before the elbow at Pukekohe long since gone, a bit scary but so close to the action. good memories.

I noticed Mark appearing in the passenger seat of the red 100/4 in the McLaren historic cars lineup at Goodwood last weekend. Can be seen briefly on Youtube.
Mark still has this car and it is still running well. It was also my first Austin-Healey that I bought off my next door neighbour, Trevor Burnnand back in 1972. Trevor imported it from England after his OE in the 60's. I still see him occasionally and he still regrets selling it to me all those years ago. He told me he nearly bought a 100S in England , but it was a few quid dearer!! Trevor's brother Don also owned the ex John Seabrook 100M, but he sold it to buy a section on the banks of the Tamaki River, not far from the old Panmure bridge - probably a better investment today!!

Hi Ross,
My brother(Richard Jnr) and father (Richard Snr) were both running Lotus cars( a 7 S4 and Cortina). Charlie Conway had the Cooper there for Stirling Moss to drive. My family and the Conway's all stayed at the track in campervans. My friend and I had to push start that Cooper a few times. My friend still says how he burnt his leg on the exhaust of the Cooper with Stirling at the wheel. I am not sure who it was in the Cooper in the photo, was it Rolly Levis?

Sorting through a filing cabinet today (trying to find my will!!!) I came across a colour negative film of the event, that obviously wasn't with the 400+ films I'd been cataloguing earlier in the year. Will scan one or two shortly. I also came across just one unmounted colour positive - yup, Austin Healey BL 4893...

Not as crisp and clear as the Ross Cammick photo above of course and possibly a bit scuffed.

They were raced in Formula One from 1954 to 1960.

It's also the car Chris drove when he started out - BRM wheels and Girling disc brakes? Raced by B Bira and Ron Flockhart in 1954 - was crashed, then apparently was rebuilt by The Owen Organisation/BRM (hence the wheels and brakes) Won the 1955 NZGP driven by Bira then sold to and raced by Bruce Halford. Bought by Ross Jensen in 1958 who sold it to Gavin Quirk. Raced by Len Gilbert, then Chris.......I think.

The entry list in Post #42 shows Ray Wilkinson in a Lotus 69. There's also a good photo of the car in Post #13.

I'm pretty sure the Lotus 69 Formula Ford that Martin Lucas now races came from Ray.

I've some photos from 1999 of Martin's car with wings (I think Ray owned it at the time), but the rear wing is a lot lower and the roll hoop is a lighter colour. Did Ray have more than one Lotus 69?
