Huge thanks to Tony Garmey for putting me on to this. This is a really beautiful piece of 8mm short film (just over 4 mins) by Gordon Jolley from the 1972 Road Atlanta Can-Am race. This was Round 2 of that seasons championship, with George Follmer having been drafted in at the last minute to replace the injured Mark Donohue at Team Penske, driving the incredible new Porsche 917/10K.

The film is shot throughout the pits, showing the different cars, team transporters, the drivers, and various promotions. I especially love the Can-Am Shadow Aurora AFX slot-cars shown in the UOP Shadow pit.

The clarity is incredible!

Anyway, check it out and enjoy:

Looks like Pete Bryant overseeing the Shadows, his book Can-Am Challenger is a good read. In earlier days he worked for Reg Parnell in the Yeoman Credit F1 team, they ran two Cooper T51s and a Lotus 18 in the 61 Tasman Series, drivers were Bonnier and Hulme (Coopers) and Roy Salvadori in the Lotus.

Thanks Tony & Steve.
That is outstanding footage. So rare to have a concentration on the pit activity and veiwing the cars with their bodies off.
Outstanding!

Awesome, great to see the insides, only wish they had sound on 8mm cameras back then. That blown big block must have hauled the mail!
