The car is NZ based, in Chch, I think it was raced by Graeme Lawrence in Malaysia
I think the photo by Mike looks like a March.

Sorry Barry, yes you are right, its a March. I didn't read your first post properly. Did Lawrence only race the Chevron in Malaysia?

My recollection is that he raced it at a late-season Manfeild meeting, in preparation for that season's Asian series, but have no quick way of checking

Thanks David. I never cease to be amazed at your ability to recall and store away information most others would quickly forget. Its very impressive!

Should have been 1979, but maybe 1980
And I might be confusing it with an earlier Asia car he raced only at Manfeild
Not so impressive after all, Steve;)

Ok so Graeme Lawrence took possession of the Chevron B48 around April 1979 and he then raced it against Ken Smiths March in South East Asia through mid 1979. Reading between the lines of Davids ATL-Antics articles, this car was a disappointment, being considearably slower than Smiths March. It certainly did nolt appear in the summer GP series back in NZ by which time It would seem Mr Lawrence was finalising a deal to buy his March 80A which also raced in Rothmans colours. This car did not appear in NZ until the Gold Star series at the end of the 80/81 season by which time it was probably past its best as a Pacific competitor.
